Frequently Asked Questions
We calculate the fair price based on January 2025 market rates for hardware (Panels, Inverters, Structure) plus standard installation charges, labor, and a healthy installer margin (approx. 15%). We then subtract the eligible government subsidy to show you the "Net Cost."
If a quote is significantly lower than the cost of raw materials, the vendor might be using:
- Polycrystalline panels (Blue color, older technology) instead of Mono PERC.
- DCR Rejected modules (Domestic Content Requirement rejected) which are not eligible for subsidy.
- Low-quality structures (Pre-galvanized) that may rust in 2-3 years.
Advice: Always ask for the "ALMM Certificate" of the panels to ensure they are government-approved.
String Inverters (Standard): One central box on the wall. Cost-effective. If one panel has a shadow, the whole system's output drops.
Micro Inverters (Premium): Small devices under each panel. Expensive (+₹20k/kW). If one panel is shaded, the others keep working at 100%. Highly recommended for roofs with shadow issues.
Under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, you usually pay the Total Project Cost to the vendor. Once the system is installed and the net meter is commissioned, the Government transfers the subsidy directly to your bank account (DBT) within 30-45 days.
